Overview

Welcome to The Old Bank House. Formerly owned by the Clydesdale Bank (see the old sign near the front door), the house was built over 200 years ago as a single storey cottage. The upper 2 floors were added later to create a sail loft, thus giving the building its unique appearance. With stunning views across St Monans Harbour, it has been thoughtfully renovated to provide a contemporary, split-level holiday-home from home. With hardwood floors, neutral décor and co-ordinated furnishings, the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen has double windows to the front which frame the views. 2 steps lead through the internal hallway to 2 bedrooms and a modern, fully-tiled shower room. Wi-fi. On street parking. Pets welcome.

NB.The Sail Loft (above) with 3 bedrooms, is also available to holiday let, should families wish to stay close to each other, or require additional accommodation.

The Location

Dating back to the 9th Century, St Monans is one of the small group of pretty, historic fishing villages which are located within the East Neuk of Fife. It has a thriving fishing harbour, and the Fife Coastal Path passes through the remains of Newark Castle. The grounds of St Monans Church offer breath-taking views over the Firth of Forth, and the much photographed three piers. The East Pier Smokehouse, Craig Millar@16 West End, and The Diving Gannet are within the village, and Bowhouse food market, which is close by, is a must visit. The market takes place each month just outside the village and showcases some of the very best local food & drink, music and crafts. St Andrews, the ‘home of golf’, is only 20 minutes’ drive away.
